A Special Kiwanis Day: Lunch at Tilden Park!
The gather-of-the-notes for the absent scribe, RevRoberta, sat in the sun (the shade being tooooo cold, as usual). SecJack, Duane and PrezJeff were at the grill. Twelve additional Kiwanians and Circle K Joe and Thuyet were gathered around the grill awaiting culinary delights (and for a bit of warmth too.)
Circle K report included:
--The Interclub bears were at Joe's house, refusing to come to the meeting; they were too afraid of the bees
--Their first general meeting was last Tuesday with
250-300 folks attending
--September 21, Kiwanis Family Dinner at House of Curry.
Our song was cancelled; something about scaring all the folks around us so much they would flee in terror.
Nor was there a Secret Greeter (no explanation given). RevRoberta, though, made sure there was an invocation by giving it herself.
Evie provided the anti-bee cream (which was much appreciated).
SecJack's Announcements:
--Board Meeting September 18.
--ElCerrito Installation October 6 at Hotel Mac
--Ed still in hospital and sends his love (after 12 hours of surgery!).
Phuoc announced his Installation. Chimney Picnic area of Live Oak Park, noon to 4. Scribe is unsure of date. Deinstallation is at that time too, as PrezJeff exclaimed.
Duane reminded us that the Ocktober Fest is October 13-German songs, German band, German food, German treasures for auction, etc, etc, etc. And don't forget dancing and a lively treasure-filled auction. Check your mailbox for The Envelope containing all the details. This Fest will be incredible-invite your friends, invite your family, invite your neighbors, invite your in-laws, invite your work mates.
LtGovFrank was awarded a life membership in the District for his service as LTG. Congratulations Frank for all you have accomplished; we are all proud of you
Evie collected $15.00. Scribe has no idea for what.
Phuoc gave a happy dollar for….drum roll please….the #6 IN THE NATION California Bears.
Finally the steaks came off the grill, the bean pot was hot, the salads cold. And best of all, there were real knives, unlike previous years when one would go through at least 6 plastic knives while eating the scrumptious steaks (no, this is not a reflection on the steaks but on those weak plastic knives).
A special day, a special group
