Things were completely different at the Berkeley Kiwanis meeting today. You ask how?? Well… the young lady playing President did not look like the President we know. The song leader chose a different song. The fine box monies did not go to our club… The speaker(s) played games instead of lecturing! Lots and lots of things were auctioned off. The meeting ran overtime. What a kick!!!
It was……
CIRCLE K Takeover Day!!
Shera was Madame President. She asked P. Khong to lead the song, and he selected our National Anthem. Circle Ker Ken Tau was the fine collector. Circle Ker Kenneth Lee was the Secret Greeter and he did catch two folks who found out the fine was $2.00, not the normal $1.00 for refusing to shake the SG's hand (or just ignoring him!!).
Committee Reports were short and sweet!
1. E. Levitch showed a rendering of the future trellis for the Marina. He stated he got up at 3AM this morning to do the drawing. (Ha!) He thinks work will begin on it in 1 ½ months.
2. B. Carpenter reported on two interclubs this week. F&R Bliss, D. Haughin, P. Khong, and T. Ng found their way up the hill to the UCB Circle K meeting on Feb. 1. MidYear was attended by the Blisses, Carpenters,
D. Haughin, S. Hearn and J. Rosano.
3. MidYear in Sacramento was fun
according to some, okay according to
others. Food actually was fine.
JLJLJLJLJLJL$$$$
We always have many JL$ and today was no exception. This editor tried taking notes, and now cannot read most. P. Khong was happy for the Super Bowl and other stuff. F. Bliss bought MANY Circle K hand-made clay roses which he then presented to his lovely bride of many years.
E. Levitch spoke the praises of the wonderful, talented, capable, and spirited Circle Kers that he hopes will continue in the Kiwanis family when they graduate. He promised to send special delivery $25.00 to Circle K to put towards whatever project they would like. PLEASE let us know when you receive that money!!! J. Rosano put in $5.00 in hopes that Circle K will leave him alone for the rest of the day. VC. put in J$$ that she could care less about the SB (Game!!)- she was jeered (thumbs down.)
SPEAKER(sss)?????
Well… we had Circle K speakers who tried to entertain us- and did a great job of it!!! Shera tried to get us to follow their rules of the day:
1. Sing people's names when you call them.
2. When music plays, you must do a dance move.
3. Call Circle Kers by their last names.
4. Ask Shear to use the bathroom before going.
5. Don't interrupt when another person is talking.
Each rule had a fine attached. Treasurer Kenneth kept tabs of fines. I have no idea how he did it!!
We played a game called "Don't Forget the Lyrics". We were promised tunes that were from "our generation"- Ha!! They did get close with the Beach Boys!! We had to sing the lyrics and try to fill in the last line… well.. not too much luck, but lots of fun and laughs!!
Their auction of baked goods brought in many $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Lucky winners:
P. Khong: Chocolate cupcakes: $40
D. Haughin: Raspberry streusel bars: $35
F. Bliss: Home cooked dinner 4 two: $40
Circle K Tshirts totaled $71

F. Bliss: Chocolate Crinkles: $50
Pictures of Josh went to:

It seems to this editor that this totals up to a lot of funds collected for their projects. Added to the auction monies are all the fines and the JL$$ collected. What a great day and what fun our dear Circle Kers are. They make us feel young again!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU!!!
