Another glorious day!! Lovely sun, lovely breeze, lovely folks, lovely food!!! Greeting us at the ticket table was J. Piercy. He bounced between the ticket table and the table where he had "stored" his lunch. The room was light on folks (with three sitting at the secretary's area, wine glasses in hand, talking amongst themselves- has the bar moved downstairs??) until about 5 minutes before the bell rang. Then- folks began arriving, including former member and guest of E. Levitch, Elizabeth Turnbloom, who brightened our room with her dazzling smile! Also joining us was Bruce, son of C. Fitch- who will be hanging around for the remainder of the week.
When the bell sounded, we all stood to sing a rousing rendition of GBA led by B. Rice, followed by the "tender mercies" invocation delivered by B. Carpenter.
Gray-bearded E. Levitch carried around the fire extinguisher fine box, and it did fill up with bunches of $$$$.
Congratulations are in order for out new Circle K Family Chair, Diane (I didn't get a last name). Her "term" officially begins in April, and Monica was nowhere to be found. Diane introduced Virginia (who was happily enjoying the BCC lunch), and had no other news to report except that the Circle K DCON is this coming weekend in Woodland Hills. We will have an interclub in the presence of P. Khong, T. Ng and B. & V. Carpenter. All are driving down- Be Safe!
Committee reports as follows:
1. B. Barnwell & J. Piercy reported that a letter has been created to present to graduating college students to continue their service through Kiwanis, and inviting him/her to join BK or a Kiwanis Club in the area he/she might be locating to. Dues are CHEAP for the first couple of years. BFE Pres Denise and P. Khong will deliver next week.
2. V.C. reported that the RIF distribution finished up last Thursday and another will be planned hopefully in May. As well, Franklin School is beginning a lending library. On Monday, March 30th, V.C. will deliver lending library books donated by Macys and RIF to Franklin and the head of the program. Anyone wanting to go with her, just call!!

CONGRATS and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY
Nick and Denise Haughin- 20 Years
Bill & Virginia Carpenter- 37 years
Both couples were married on
March 25th.
We also tried to celebrate Borden Price's birthday but he was not in attendance. Happy Birthday, Borden!
We also received a thank you for our annual gift to K. International, and because it was "early bird", 2 pins- one for our secretary and one for our treasurer.
We know that we have special speakers among our members. This week Debra Wong showed us her expertise as a teacher. Debra is the main creator of our Berkeley Kiwanis website. She pulled that site up on her computer- and the "wide screen"- and led us through a series of things WE can do to update the website, post pictures, change (add to ) the calendar, etc. etc. etc. She even "allowed" us to touch her laptop- and do some things ourself!! Now.. we all need to get into the website… run around in it for a bit… and then try doing some of the stuff she taught us.
This was a most informative program, and many of us Kiwanians are grateful for having been given an opportunity to try our hand at having some fun! Thank you, Debra, for your patience and for answering many of our interesting questions!!
